Our raw Red Walnuts are grown in Livermore, California and really do have a lovely red color! Like other walnuts, the Livermore Red Walnuts have a pretty butterfly shape hidden inside a rounded shell. But our unique nuts were created by mixing a standard English walnut with a red-skinned Persian variety. Their offspring are our California beauties, which are a great alternative to regular walnuts since they are low in tannic acid and don’t have the bitter tannins and taste often causing reactions in those with walnut sensitivities. They can be used creatively on menus in appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Plus, they're fun to use for Christmas, Valentine’s Day dishes, and other celebratory occasions with their festive color. Or just have them as a fun everyday snack!
Superfood stat: Red Walnuts have 4 grams of protein per 28 grams and contain Omega-3’s, Vitamin B6 and magnesium.
Good for: Vegetarians, vegans, those on a Keto diet, as well as people who can’t tolerate regular walnuts.
How to store: Store up to 6 months in the pantry, and 1-2 years in the freezer. When buying bulk, store them in an airtight container in a refrigerated unit to extend their shelf life.
How to use: Sprinkle on top of salads, crush and mix into oatmeal, or make into candied walnuts for a dessert.
